Kerry Eaton, Chief Operating Officer

Kerry is the former Chief Operating Officer of BridgePoint Financial Services (2011-2012) and Risk Management Services (2016-2018) delivering financial risk management and litigation financing services to legal counsel.

From 2000 to 2011 Kerry served as the Vice President of Crawford Class Action Services, being directly involved in 55 of Canada’s most complex class action settlements by volume, class size and award value, including the Hep C series of settlements, Walkerton, Indian Residential Schools and various other product liability, medical device, mass tort, and securities-based class action settlements.

In 2007 the Chief Justices of Ontario and British Columbia appointed Kerry to act as their Independent Court Monitor in the National Residential Schools Class Action Settlement.

In 2011 Kerry was appointed by the Ontario Superior Court to act as the Government of Canada’s Settlement Administration Expert in the “Personal Credits” portion of the Indian Residential School Settlement.

Kerry is the former Vice President, Professional Development, and Vice President of Professional Standards and Auditing for Crawford and Company Canada. (1995-1999)

Kerry recently passed the Level I RIBO exam to become a licensed insurance broker in the province of Ontario.

Kerry is a former police officer having served 20 years in the Hamilton Police Service where he served in every operational role including homicide, supervising the Hamilton Joint Forces Organized Crime Unit and latterly in charge of the department's training unit.  Kerry holds a certificate in adult education from St. Francis Xavier University, Nova Scotia and in Instructional Techniques from the Canadian Police College.

Kerry is the Past President and a Life Member of the Ontario Chapter, International Association of Arson Investigators; a past Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator Instructor and Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. He has taught fire investigation at Sheridan College. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners, Halton Crime Stoppers and the Hamilton John Howard Society.

Since 1995, Kerry has conducted over 200 presentations to the Insurance and Legal Industry in Canada, United States, Netherlands, Channel Islands and the United Kingdom.

From 2001 – 2013 Kerry taught Risk Management and Risk Assessment in the Leadership Program at the Ontario Police College. He also taught “Investigative Leads in Insurance” at the RCMP Training Academy in Regina Saskatchewan. 

Kerry is a certified triathlon coach and currently a half marathon instructor at the Burlington Running Room.
